Former President Donald Trump has once again taken to social media to express his concerns over a court order that could restrict his ability to discuss his legal case related to his attempts to overturn the 2020 election. Here’s the full story.
In a Twitter rant on October 15, the former POTUS decried Special Counsel Jack Smith’s efforts to impose a gag order on him.
Crooked Joe Biden and His Weaponized DOJ
He said, “A Leaking, Crooked, and Deranged Prosecutor, Jack Smith, who has a terrible record of failure, is asking a highly partisan Obama-appointed Judge, Tanya Chutkan, who should recuse herself based on the horrible things she has said, to silence me, through the use of a powerful GAG ORDER, making it impossible for me to criticize those who are doing the silencing, namely Crooked Joe Biden, and his corrupt and weaponized DOJ & FBI.”
Banana Republic Kind of Stuff
“They want to take away my First Amendment rights, and my ability to both campaign and defend myself,” he added. He also said that this is an attempt to interfere with the 2024 Presidential Election, branding it as “Banana Republic kind of stuff.”
Trump Is Leading in Points
On the day of the court proceedings, Trump continued his defiance, claiming he was leading in the Great State of Iowa by a staggering 50 points while expressing apprehension about the outcome in Judge Tanya Chutkan’s courtroom.
Gag Order Was Issued
The following day, on Monday, October 16, Judge Tanya Chutkan issued the much-anticipated gag order against Donald Trump.
This legal move limits his ability to speak on matters concerning the 2020 election, prompting a wave of reactions on the implications for free speech.
A Danger to the Administration
Judge Chutkan said, “This is not about whether I like the language Mr. Trump uses. This is about language that presents a danger to the administration of justice.” “His presidential candidacy does not give him carte blanche to vilify public servants who are simply doing their jobs,” Chutkan added.
The motion for the gag order was filed by Special Counsel Jack Smith weeks before its issuance. Smith’s team cited several instances of Trump’s social media and interview comments that they believed justified the need for such a mandate.
They referred to a post on Truth Social, where he made claims about the court and a Special Counsel’s Office prosecutor. The court documents detailed how Trump had used sarcastic language and spread false accusations against those involved in the case.
Made up Stories
Furthermore, the filing highlighted Trump’s comments about former Vice President Mike Pence, who is a key witness in the case. Trump alleged that Pence had “made up stories” about him that were false and accused him of going to the “dark side.”
In addition, Trump’s interview on Meet the Press in mid-September was cited, where he claimed that the Georgia Secretary of State had said things he had not, including the statement that the defendant “didn’t do anything wrong” during a phone call, constituting an overt act in the indictment.
Twitter Users Expressed Their Views
Several social media users shared their thoughts on the incident. One Twitter user wrote, “Biden has not weaponized the DOJ. He was indicted by his peers. And, if he can’t campaign without attacking people personally, then he has no business holding office. Although no surprise given, he has the intellect and vocabulary of a 2-year-old.”
American Citizens Will Be Thrown in Jail
Another user added, “A gag order on President Trump is just like putting a gag order on every person that supports him. American citizens will be thrown in jail. They already are thrown in jail from J6 that was a warning to all of us to keep her mouth shut”
A third user commented, “Not sure our Country has ever been more corrupt than it is right now. They don’t even try to hide it anymore. They just don’t care as long as they remain in power. Disgusting group of idiots behind the wheel at the moment.”
