Biden, 72 years old, reported experiencing mild symptoms at the time of her positive test, according to a statement issued by the first lady’s communications director, Elizabeth Alexander.

In a show of support, President Biden, the 80-year-old head of the household, quickly underwent a COVID-19 test upon learning of his wife’s positive result.

The good news? His test came back negative. The big question looming was whether this would impact the President’s scheduled foreign travels.

One former Tweeter couldn’t resist making a joke on President Biden’s previous vaccine assurances.

The President had confidently said that vaccinations offered an impenetrable shield against COVID.

Famous Last Words

The tweet humorously echoed his words: “Now would be a great time to remind everybody that there is no way anyone can get COVID if they’re vaccinated.” Of course, “Yeah, Right, Joe!” was the prevailing sentiment on social media.

For some, the diagnosis raised questions about whether Dr. Jill Biden’s medical background played a role in her experience.

Some supporters pointed out that she was “triple boosted” and expressed confidence in her ability to recover swiftly.

Others commented that “she might have a PHD but she has no medical training whatsoever”.

School Fears

Dr. Biden’s COVID-19 diagnosis unexpectedly impacted her teaching plans. Just the previous week, she had informed middle school students in Washington, D.C., of her intent to resume teaching courses.

Change of Course

However, the diagnosis prompted a change of course. Dr. Biden collaborated with NOVA (Northern Virginia Community College) to ensure her classes would be adequately covered by a substitute.

Before her diagnosis, the First Lady had met with Live Oak, Florida residents, who had been affected by Hurricane Idalia on September 2, 2023.

Ironically, the first lady’s positive test result emerged two days after her visit with the hurricane-impacted communities.

This raised concerns about whether those she had interacted with during her visit would now need to undergo COVID-19 testing.
