In a shocking turn of events, former President Donald Trump turned himself in to Fulton County police on August 24, becoming the first former President of the United States to face criminal charges. Here’s the full story.
Trump Turned Himself In
Trump’s arrival at Fulton County Jail marked a significant moment in the ongoing legal saga that has surrounded his post-presidential life.
The former President was booked on a total of 13 felony counts, including racketeering, solicitation of violation of oath by a public officer, and various conspiracy and false statement charges.
The bond was set at $200,000.
In his mugshot, Trump’s expression appeared furious, encapsulating the gravity of the situation.
He Could Be Gone for a Long Time
The charges he faces could potentially lead to a staggering 76-year sentence if he is found guilty on all counts.
As the legal proceedings unfold, legal experts and the public are closely monitoring the developments and potential outcomes.
Trump’s reaction to the charges has been consistent with his public persona.
Addressing journalists after his arrival in Atlanta, he vehemently denied any wrongdoing.
Trump Did Nothing Wrong?
He said, “What has taken place here is a travesty of justice. We did nothing wrong. I did nothing wrong.”
Accusations of a Dishonest Election
“We have every right, every single right to challenge an election that we think is dishonest,” he added.
Prior to surrendering to authorities, Trump went online to express his frustration with District Attorney Fani Willis, who is overseeing the case.
Arrested by Radical Left
He wrote, “Please excuse me, I have to start getting ready to head down to Atlanta, Georgia, where Murder and other Violent Crimes have reached levels never seen before, to get ARRESTED by a Radical Left, Lowlife District Attorney, Fani Willis, for A PERFECT PHONE CALL, and having the audacity to challenge a RIGGED & STOLEN ELECTION.”
“THE EVIDENCE IS IRREFUTABLE!” he concluded.
In March, Trump faced 34 counts of falsifying business documents related to an alleged hush money payment made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels in 2016.
Subsequently, he was slapped with 37 counts for his alleged mishandling of classified documents discovered at his Mar-a-Lago resort.
The Public Expressed Their Views
Several commenters shared their thoughts on the incident.
One wrote, “Great day for American Patriots, crack open a cold one, fire up the grill, and enjoy the carnage.”
Claims of Criminality
Another commented, “Anyone with common sense could have seen this coming…you put a crook in office, he will hire other crooks.”
This Is Sad
A third added, “Sad sad sad. If they can do it to him, they will do it to you.”
